I have teamed up with Free Verse Farm to bring you the ultimate summertime natural dye experience!

In this class you will learn the basics of natural dyes in the most beautiful mountainside setting! We will be using an assortment of dyes—many of them grown and harvested in the very hillside we are located. Free Verse Farm & Apothecary grows a wide variety of culinary, medicinal, and tea herbs which they use as the main ingredients in their ever-expanding line of herbal tea blends, culinary blends, and herbal remedies and body care products. This season, they will also be growing organic natural dye plants exclusively for Earthen Warrior.

We will dye over a fire pit amongst the flowers, herbs, butterflies and bees. You will learn all about which fibers you can use to dye, how to make bright, saturated color that lasts, and you will get to experiment with a range of colors to create a natural rainbow. We will use flowers and dye grown on the farm, as well as exotic natural dyes, medicinal plants, and common food waste. You will leave class with your own color swatches, a silk scarf, and a cotton tote.

For people traveling from further away who may want to stay over on this stunning property and make a weekend of it, you can camp for $35 a night. The campsites offer a hot outdoor shower & sink, as well as an outhouse with a composting toilet, fire pits, and picnic tables. From the Hipcamp listing: “The property boasts twenty sloping, knoll-laden, open acres overlooking the First Branch of the White River as it passes through the scenic village of Chelsea, Vermont. We have incredible views, forest trails that offer magical woodland wanderings, and a wide range of campsites available in our fields.”
