Natural Dye Class at Paper Fashion Studios

This natural dyes class is in the heart of NYC, but you will feel like you've been transported to another world. Join Paper Fashion founder Katie Rodgers, and Earthen Warrior founder Susanna Taylor for an afternoon of reveling in natural colors, sipping rosé, delighting in the late September air, and creating a one of a kind silk scarf that you can take home and wear.

This event will take place on the gorgeous garden terrace at the Paper Fashion studio on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

You will learn about the art of natural dyes from Susanna, who has studied from masters in New York City and as far away as the Amazon jungle and deep in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. She will teach you how to prepare a natural dye pot, and about the rainbow of color you can achieve from the natural world. You will learn a lot and get to take home a beautiful piece of wearable art! You will also get to tour the Paper Fashion studios. You may bring other pieces of fabric or clothing you wish to dye (natural fibers only).

Susanna and Katie are both creatives living in NYC. They run very different kinds of businesses, but both share a love of nature, fashion and beautiful, colorful things.

Susanna started Earthen Warrior as a way to create beautiful garments (and sleep masks!) that are ALL GOOD. Her products are good for the earth and good for the consumer-- from the design, production, dye and marketing of the product.

$125 includes: all dye materials, silk scarf + cocktails!

Natural Dyeing at Anima Mundi Herbals

This botanical dyes class is focused on making colors and herbs that can aid in stress-reduction, rest and sleep. We will get our hands in some colorful, natural dye pots and learn about the properties of the natural substances. We will also get to experience some Anima Mundi tonics and teas for sleep and relaxation. You will then dye your own cotton sachet which you will fill with your own custom blend of sleep and rest enhancing botanicals and essential oils. You will leave the class with new knowledge about how to dye on your own at home, plants that can produce vibrant colors (and enhance your health) and you will have your very own naturally dyed relaxation sachet to take with you on the go or leave under your pillow to be reminded of the goodness of the earth and all of her gifts wherever you are!
